I thank the honourable member for some notice of the
question.
(1)–(4)
The most recent infill figures are as at December 2019. Approximately 12 280
new dwellings completed construction in 2019. Of these, 52 per cent were gross
infill dwellings and 48 per cent were greenfield dwellings. These figures
represent gross dwelling construction, before demolitions are considered. The number of net infill dwellings built in 2019—that
is, with demolitions removed from the gross infill figure —was 4 400,
representing an infill rate of 43 per cent. Infill dwelling development is
expected to vary from year to year and is unlikely to progress in a smooth or
linear fashion.
