❓ Hon. Christine Sharp questions the Minister for Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries regarding the timber value from Roseneath, Fleays and Leach forest blocks, seeking clarification on how the figure was derived and whether costs were deducted. The Minister provides a breakdown of in-forest costs, administration, roading levy, production, cartage and other expenses.

With reference to my question on notice No. 1869 and the Minister’s reply on May 5 2004 regarding logging over the last decade in Roseneath, Fleays and Leach forest blocks in which he revealed a total value for timber from those blocks of $7 741 607, will the Minister advise -
(1) Is this figure the royalty paid to Government by the receiving timber mills?
(2) If not, how was the figure derived?
(3) Have the costs of roading, felling, carting, pre-logging checks and any other expenses incurred by the Department of Conservation and Land Management and Forest Products Commission been deducted?
(4) If not, can the Minister provide an estimate of those costs by category?
(5) If yes, can the Minister provide an estimate of the value of the timber after milling and any other value adding that took place?
