CHILD AND PARENT CENTRES
846. Hon DONNA FARAGHER to the Leader of the House
representing the Minister for Education:
I refer to the minister's
answer to supplementary information as part of the 2023–24 Legislative
Council budget estimates and the minister's response to question A9
that the government does not intend to expand the number of child and parent
centres. Will the minister detail the reasons for this decision?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question. Yes. The Department of Education is currently in
the process of extending existing child and parent centre contracts to June 2026.
During this time, the department will undertake a rigorous commissioning
process to understand existing and future service demands. This process will
inform any decision on whether to expand the number of child and parent
centres.
