SCHOOLS —
SUPPLIERS
345. Hon SUE ELLERY to the
Minister for Education:
(1) Is the minister aware of schools reporting difficulty
paying suppliers at the start of the school year?
(2) Given that
many schools experienced the same thing last year, what measures will the
minister put in place to address this?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for some notice of this
question.
(1) No.
(2) Since
October 2014, the department has been closely monitoring and working with
schools managing low bank balances to ensure that they have sufficient funds to
cover the cost of goods and services through to March 2015, when the first
gateway payment is made. Only three schools have requested a cash advance.
