Kalgoorlie Miner
October 16 2001 -
(1) Was this road constructed on private property?
(2) If yes, can the Minister provide the details of ownership and lot numbers of the private property?
(3) If no, can the Minister state what type of land was the road constructed over?
(4) Were all necessary approvals obtained before construction of the road commenced?
(5) If yes, can the Minister list all of the approvals that were required, and the dates when they were granted?
(6) If not, why not?
(7) Do the persons who constructed the road require the prior written approval from Main Roads or other Government Departments to have the road intersecting with the Goldfields Highway?
(8) If not, why not?
(9) If yes, can the Minister give a date on which written approval was given?
(10) Has the road, which has been constructed, been sign posted on the road itself and on the Goldfields Highway to alert any traffic on the highway of the intersection?

(2). The property is Unallocated Crown Land (UCL) coverd by mineral leases owned by Kalgoorlie Consolidated Gold Mines. (3). Not applicable. (4). With respect to the intersection of the driveway with the Goldfields Highway, yes. I am unaware of approvals obtained for the construction on private property. (5). Approval to the new driveway access was given to the Hall of Fame Project Manager, on 25 February 2000. (6). Approvals for development on private property are not neccessarily referred to Main Roads for comment. (7). Yes. (8). Not applicable. (9). As per (5) above. (10) - (11). The access has been partly constructed but is not yet completed. Until it is completed and opened for use, access to the Hall of Fame is via the existing Hannans North Tourist Mine some three kilometres to the north. Exisiting signs have been amended to direct visitors to the temporary access. When the new access is opened, it will be signed appropriately.
