COMMUNITY HEALTH SERVICES — MURDOCH COMMUNITY HUB
832. Hon DONNA FARAGHER to the Leader of the House
representing the Minister for Health:
I refer to the WAtoday article
dated today and titled ''Super-size me? The plan to move mothers'
groups and baby check-ups out of the suburbs'',
which states that a briefing note prepared by the Department of Health refers
to the ''relocation and consolidation of 13 community health service
sites to a commercially leased regional hub'' in Murdoch.
(1) Can the
minister confirm that 13 community health service sites will be consolidated
into the new Murdoch hub?
(2) If no to (1),
can the minister confirm how many sites are intended to be consolidated?
(3) If yes to
(1), which sites are being considered for closure?

I thank the
honourable member for some notice of the question.
(1)–(3) As has been previously announced, the Child and
Adolescent Health Service is introducing a hub-and-spoke model to give
families access to more appropriate, co-located services. This means that
families will be able to visit a purpose-built
facility that will act as a one-stop shop by bringing together child health
services and mental health services, rather than them having to visit
several different facilities. An assessment of existing clinics is still being
undertaken, but only clinics with ageing facilities that are no longer fit for
purpose are being considered for relocation.
