(2) Are there any other methods by which people can book accommodation on the island?
(3) Are there any exceptions to the booking methods explained on the RIA website?
(4) If yes to (3), what are they?
(5) How are priorities between the various booking methods determined?
(6) Is the Authority satisfied that the current booking system is the best possible?
(7) How often is it reviewed?

(1) (a) E Shed Fremantle call centre and Quayside Reception - 7 staff (Mon-Fri) 2 staff (Sat).
(b) Rottnest Island Visitors Centre - 5 (daily)
(c) As (a) above.
(d) As (a) above.
(e) Facsimile bookings are not accepted.
(2) Bookings for the Rottnest Island Authority (RIA) Hostel at Kingstown Barracks can be made via the three ferry companies servicing the Island.
Applications for RIA balloted accommodation over the Easter school holidays, month of January and school leavers week are submitted on line.
Reservations for the Rottnest Lodge and Hotel Rottnest are made directly with those establishments as they are privately operated.

(5) The RIA takes bookings only by telephone or in person and operates a single linked reservations system so no method of booking has priority over another. Balloted accommodation is managed by an automated randomised process of allocation.
(6) The RIA is continually seeking methods of improving its accommodation booking system to achieve greater efficiencies. The RIA is working to implement an online booking system for operation in mid 2009.
(7) The existing accommodation booking system is reviewed regularly by the RIA however substantial changes are unlikely until an online system has been implemented.
