I thank the member for some notice of this question. Hon Paul Llewellyn : A deep question. Hon KIM CHANCE : It is a very good question. The amazing thing is that I have been provided with a detailed answer. I do not know how people can get this sort of information so quickly. I never cease to be amazed at how good some government agencies are at providing answers. The following is the answer, bearing in mind we are all still recovering from the shattering information that Hon George Cash will not be here in 10 years! (1) Yes. (2) The following is the situation with bores - (a) as at 9 May 2006, the Department of Water database shows there are 154 097 bores in the Perth metropolitan area; (b) there are 4 097 licensed bores; and (c) there are 45 metered bores. (3) Not applicable. (4) All ground water bores licensed to take 500 megalitres a year or more are required to be metered. As part of the Gnangara mound management program, the government has provided funds to install meters for bores licensed for five megalitres a year or more in the Wanneroo area.
