1403. Hon COLIN de GRUSSA to the minister representing the
Minister for Police:
I
refer to the minister's plan to amend Western Australia's
firearm laws and his claim that ''Over the past five years, on
average one firearm has been stolen in WA every day.''
(1) For each of
the calendar years 2018 to 2022 inclusive and 2023 to date, how many registered
firearms were recorded stolen?
(2) Of those in (1), how many were
stolen from each of the following licensee types —
(a) dealers/gunsmiths;
(b) the Western Australia Police
Force;
(c) the Australian Defence Force;
(d) collectors; and
(e) in transit?
(3) For each of
the calendar years 2018 to 2022 inclusive and 2023 to date, how many firearm
theft charges were prosecuted in WA Courts?
(4) Of those in (3), how many
convictions were recorded?
