(1) As at 27
March 2014, 1 214 education assistants, by headcount, are employed on fixed
term contracts with the Department of Education. This does not include
Aboriginal and Islander education officers.
(2) Education
assistants are not allocated by year level exclusively. It is common for an
education assistant to work with students from a variety of year levels, and
the year levels in which education assistants work may change throughout the
year. The headcount of education assistants on fixed term contracts, by
categories of employment, are: level 1, 380; level 2, 512; level 3, 303;
Auslan, 12; Braille, zero; and behaviour centre, seven.
