Vacant Property Rental Incentive Scheme
301. Hon Tim Clifford to the parliamentary secretary representing the Treasurer:
I refer to the
Vacant Property Rental Incentive Scheme, which had a target of 1,000 homes
moving onto the long-term rental market.
(1) Given the need in the community, and the
number of empty homes revealed by the last census, how was the target of 1,000
arrived at?
(2) Was modelling used in the creation of the
scheme and, if so, could the minister table the modelling used?
(3) During the creation of the scheme, did the
minister speak to the Real Estate Institute of Western Australia or any other
private and/or government bodies for advice?

I thank the
honourable member for some notice of the question. The following answer has
been provided on behalf of the Treasurer.
(1)–(3) The Cook Labor government is doing
everything it can to bolster housing supply across Western Australia. Over 670 properties
have been made available to renters through the government's Short-term Rental Accommodation
Incentive Scheme and the Vacant Property Rental Incentive Scheme.
