With reference to my question (Thursday, August 10 2000) on the proposed Gas to Synthetic Hydrocarbons Plant, Burrup Peninsula, Western Australia, I thank the Minister for tabling the documents, as a result I ask the following. What is the total tonnage of greenhouse gas emissions from this project as a per annum percentage of the current total per annum emissions from Western Australia?

The Minister Replied:
Data on the current tonnage of greenhouse gas emissions per annum from Western Australia is not available. The most recent figures for Western Australia released by the Australian Greenhouse Office in 1998, are for 1995. An update for State figures is expected at the end of 2001.
