Administrative staff are paid under numerous awards, each prescribing a different pay structure and level. No single hierarchical structure exists which can be used to group individuals at the same level. Grouping staff by occupational category provides an appropriate classification mechanism. Note that the levels shown for a specific award cannot be directly compared with another award.
The transition of corporate staff at health services to HCN in 2006 is the major influence for increases in administrative staff not employed at hospital or clinical settings. Between June 2005 and June 2006 HCN administrative head count increased by 457. For all other administrative staff, the head count decreased by 25 from June 2001 to June 2007.
