On 1 April 2002, the base salary for Level 23 Practitioners under the AMA Industrial Agreement 2002 was increased to over $150,000 pa, leading to an increase in the number of employees earning over $150,000. The majority of the redundancy payouts from the State-wide public sector Voluntary Severance Scheme were made in 2002?03.

On 1 January 2004, the base salary for Level 12 Practitioners under the AMA Industrial Agreement 2004 increased to over $100,000 pa. The full effect of this increase occurred in the 2004-05 financial year.
