EMERGENCY ACCOMMODATION — SERVICE PROVISION
237. Hon KATE DOUST to the Minister for Child Protection:
What is the average number of people applying per day for
emergency crisis accommodation?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the member for some notice of the question.
Emergency accommodation can be sought from a range of
agencies, including other government agencies and community service sector
agencies; it is not provided solely by the Department for Child Protection and
Family Support. Information on the provision of homelessness services is
collected via the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare through the
specialist homelessness services collection. According to this data, the number
of people provided with emergency accommodation in 2011–12 was 7 115.
This data is not available on a per-day basis.
