STATE ECONOMY —
COMMSEC REPORT
311. Mr D.C. NALDER to the Premier:
I have a supplementary question.
Given the domestic economy was actually in recession in 2018, why does the
Premier refuse to accept any responsibility for his policies and the impact
they are having on the economy or is it simply the case that the Premier does
not understand how the economy works?
Several members interjected.
The SPEAKER : Members on my
right, I want to hear the answer.

The initial question was so flawed
based upon the member's current and former leaders' analysis
that he has then come up with another flawed piece of advice from someone who
has spent the last three weeks doing about three tweets. That has been his
level of work. His tweets attacked us for trying to make finance available for
people to build houses in Western Australia.
Mr D.C. Nalder : Who's
that?
Mr M. McGOWAN : That is you.
Mr D.C. Nalder : What did I say?
Mr M. McGOWAN : You are either
at a small claims tribunal —
The SPEAKER : Member for
Bateman, you do not get a right of reply.
Mr M. McGOWAN : That seems to
be the member's level of work ethic. During our two years in office we
have seen a restoration of confidence in Western Australia, a range of projects
committed to across Western Australia, a government that is trying to get the
finances under control in Western Australia and a government that has been
successful beyond any government before in securing support from the federal
government for this state for important capital and other projects in Western Australia.
Dr M.D. Nahan interjected.
The SPEAKER : Leader of the
Opposition!
Mr M. McGOWAN : It was the
former government in office that took Western Australia into its first ever
recession. It was the Liberal Party in office that took Western Australia into
its first ever recession. That is the simple fact of the matter. When we go to
the Property Council of Australia and we deal with other business groups, they
are just so grateful they have a government that is responsible and sensible
back in power once again.
