ASSOCIATION
OF VOLUNTEER BUSH FIRE BRIGADES
567. Hon ALANNA CLOHESY to the
Attorney General representing the Minister for Emergency Services:
I refer to the Association of Volunteer Bush Fire Brigades.
(1) Can the
Minister for Emergency Services confirm that he has refused to allow the bush
fire service volunteer advisory committee to formally report to him as
minister, even though the legislation that his predecessor created explicitly
allows for that to occur?
(2) If yes to
(1), is it because the minister would prefer the sanitised version from his
department?
(3) Can the
minister confirm that on the Facebook page of the AVBFB, it was he who
personally wrote, and I quote according to my notes, ''It's a
shame the association has been hijacked by factions'' and ''It's
clearly time for new non-political leadership at the AVBFB!''?

committees have all elected to report to the Fire and Emergency Services
Commissioner. There were no compelling grounds to make an exception for the
Association of Volunteer Bush Fire Brigades.
(2) No.
(3) Yes.
