I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question. Consideration of the Bullsbrook town site and rural strategy by the Western Australian Planning Commission has been deferred pending the release of the urban expansion strategy for the metropolitan and Peel regions and the outer subregions growth management strategy. The plans are expected to be released in June 2010 for public comment and will provide the strategic planning context for urban and rural growth in this and other areas. An assessment by the Western Australian Planning Commission of the City of Swan’s strategy for the Bullsbrook area will occur once the abovementioned plans have been released. It is important that the Bullsbrook strategy be considered in the context of the metropolitan urban expansion strategy so that the provision of future areas for housing is made in a coordinated and region-wide manner.
