I thank the
honourable member for some notice of the question. I provide this answer on
behalf of the Minister for Aboriginal Affairs.
(1) Negotiations with JYAC are on hold subject to
a resolution being reached within the Martu community on the future management
of Karlamilyi National Park.
(2) The last meeting
with JYAC in relation to the negotiations took place on 10 April 2024.
(3) The Cook government remains committed to the
2021 statement of intent and to formally recognising Martu people as the traditional
owners of Karlamilyi National Park.
