The Department of Indigenous Affairs in Mandurah has been closed since the end of October and is now serviced from Fremantle. During the previous two months, while the lease of the building was still valid, it was seen fit for an officer to travel almost daily to Mandurah because the needs of the community were so great. If this is so, why has the officer been removed from Mandurah against the wishes of the Nyoongah community and the Peel Development Commission? Hon G.T. GIFFARD

I thank the member for some notice of this question. The new arrangements for maintaining a service to the Mandurah community have been monitored and found to meet demand effectively.
