(1) All Department offices are staffed on a full time basis. There have been no operational changes to staffing levels in the past 18 months.
The Department currently has two vacant positions in remote multi-function police facilities located at Bidyadanga in the West Kimberley and Burringurrah in the Murchison.
(2) (i) Bidyadanga: None.
(ii) Burringurrah: Following unsuccessful attempts to appoint an officer to the remote community, recruitment is currently being finalised to appoint an officer based at Meekatharra Office who will provide a visiting service to the community.
(3) For both vacancies, case management is currently being covered by the nearest regional offices located at Broome and Carnarvon. In addition, Department staff conduct fortnightly planned visits to Bidyadanga and monthly visits to the Burringurrah community.
The Department works proactively with other services on the ground such as schools, health clinics and police so emergent issues can be identified.
