For the 19 November 2015 pay period, total paid teaching award FTE levels were as follows:
Primary Schools 11,636
Secondary Schools 6,916
Other 3,729
Total Teaching Award 22,281
The above includes all teachers and school administrators (including principals), and school psychologists. 'Other' includes teaching award staff in District High Schools, School Psychologists, Education Support Schools, Central Office, education regional offices and a number of other school types that are not coded as either 'primary' or 'secondary' in the Department of Education's human resource systems.
The total number of full time equivalent primary and secondary teachers changes on a daily basis, and is influenced by factors including long service leave, annual leave and school holidays. For instance, the average number of paid teaching award FTE for the past four pay periods was 21,817.
