NORTH STONEVILLE
DEVELOPMENT
310. Hon MICHAEL MISCHIN to the minister representing the
Minister for Planning:
My question is on behalf of Hon
Tjorn Sibma, who regrettably is absent from the chamber on urgent parliamentary
business.
I refer to the minister's
answer to the honourable member's question without notice 268 on 19 March
concerning the Western Australian Planning Commission's forthcoming
evaluation of the North Stoneville structure plan 34.
The PRESIDENT : Sorry; I was
distracted. There is a bit of activity happening around and people are trying
to attract my attention. I am just going to focus on the person on their feet
and deal with everything else afterwards. If you could continue your question.
Hon MICHAEL MISCHIN : Thank
you, Madam President. The minister said —
In
accordance with the provisions of the statutory time frames, the structure plan
is required to be considered by 30 April 2020.
(1) Has the WAPC now deferred
consideration of the structure plan to a later date?
(2) If yes to (1), when will the
structure plan be considered and what is the reason for the deferral?
(3) Under what
regulatory instrument or otherwise has the WAPC now disobliged itself from
abiding with the statutory time frame provisions previously advised?

I thank Hon Tjorn Sibma for some
notice of the question.
(1) Yes.
(2) The Western Australian
Planning Commission has agreed an extension of time with the applicant to
consider the proposed structure plan by 31 July 2020 due to the level of
community interest in making deputations and social distancing requirements during
the COVID-19 period. A meeting date has not yet been set.
(3) This is under the Planning and
Development (Local Planning Schemes) Regulations 2015.
The PRESIDENT : Hon Colin de
Grussa. Now I understand why you were waving madly at me.
Hon COLIN de GRUSSA : We are
supposed to ask from the lectern. I was a bit confused.
The PRESIDENT : Yes, you are,
and you get a gold star!
Hon COLIN de GRUSSA : Lovely,
thanks!
The PRESIDENT : We will just
remind that member next time. Thank you.
