I refer to question without notice 349 asked yesterday. (1) Can the minister advise the house whether there are any vacancies for speech pathologists and child psychologists in the Pilbara, great southern and Kimberley districts? (2) If yes, have these positions been advertised? (3) When will the positions be filled? (4) If no to (2), why not? Hon SIMON O’BRIEN

I thank the honourable member for notice of this question. (1) In the Pilbara region there are two vacancies for speech pathologists. There is no child psychologist position. In the great southern there is a 0.7 full-time equivalent speech pathologist position established; a 0.5 FTE is currently filled on a temporary contract until October 2009; there is a 0.2 FTE temporary vacancy; and there is no vacancy for a child psychologist. In the Kimberley region there are no vacancies for speech pathologists or child psychologists. (2) In the Pilbara region, yes, the two positions for speech pathologists have been advertised. In the great southern the temporary vacancy has been advertised and is being actively recruited for. (3) In the Pilbara region these positions will be filled on 20 April 2009. In the great southern the permanent speech pathology vacancy will be advertised for filling on a permanent basis in October 2009 once temporary contracts cease. (4) Not applicable.
