On
behalf of the minister representing the Minister for Corrective Services, I thank
the honourable member for some notice of the question. The following
information has been provided to me by the Minister for Corrective Services.
(1) As announced
by the Cook government in November 2023, $1 million has been allocated for the
detailed planning and development of a business case that will assess options
for the construction of a new youth detention facility for consideration by the
government. The business case will further plan the location, capacity, cost
and indicative time frames of this new facility.
(2) The business
case will determine the expected number of beds in the new facility for
consideration by the government.
(3) The business case will provide
indicative time frames for completion of the new facility.
