The Member would be aware that the Liberal-National Government has introduced new legislation to govern the lobbying industry. This measure was required after significant concerns that the integrity and priority of the former Government had been compromised by questionable dealings with certain.
By specifically asking about meetings with lobbyists who have affiliations with the Liberal Party, the Member is attempting to create the perception of bias. The Liberal-National Government takes a holistic approach and works with all parties to deliver benefits for Western Australia. If the Member is genuinely interested in contact of Ministerial staff with lobbyists, it should be noted this contact has also occurred across Government with identities including Peter Dowding, Emiliano Barzotto and Megan Anwyl who have been associated with the Labor Party either as politicians or staff.
The Minister and his staff may, from time to time, have met Mr Smith, Ms Duda or representatives from Enhance Group in a social capacity.
(a)(i) 4/2/2011, 31/3/2011, 7/7/2011.
(ii) Some meetings, some email contacts and some phone contacts. Meeting requests, land strategy, freeway service stops, Esperance Port.
(iii) At some but not all.
(iv) From the Ministerial Office, representatives were Minister Troy Buswell, Rachael Turnseck, Joey Armenti, Michael Buba, Kate Wang, Alan O'Brien, Leigh Boucher and Kay Hammer.
