(1) Lane splitting by motorcycles is not illegal within the state of Western Australia. The Australian Road Rules Management Group is currently reviewing this matter.
Police usually detect motorcyclists committing other offences when performing lane splitting activities. These offences include failing to indicate and crossing the continuous white line on approach to intersections, however data specific to motorcycles is unavailable for these offences.
