(1) Is the Minister aware that General Motors Holden is seeking land in the vicinity of Kununurra to develop a vehicle testing facility?
(2) Is the Minister aware that a site being sought is a reserve vested in the Department of Agriculture for the purposes of a Research Station (Reserve 1063)?
(3) Is the Government’s view that Native Title has been extinguished on this reserve?
(4) If not, why not?
(5) Is it correct that future ownership of this land is part of the Global Negotiations currently being undertaken?
(6) If so, why?
(7) Does the Government support General Motors’ proposal?
(8) If not, why not?

(2) Yes. (3) Yes. Under the Miriuwung Gajerrong No.1 Consent Determination, Native title does not exist on this reserve. (4) Not applicable. (5) (6) Negotiations are currently being undertaken by the Ord Stage 2 Steering Committee which is chaired by the Office of Native Title. Until these negotiations are finalized it would be inappropriate to discuss aspects of the Ord Global Negotiations benefits package. (7) Yes, the Department for Planning and Infrastructure has been providing assistance to General Motors Holden to identify a suitable site and is waiting on confirmation from General Motors Holden that they wish to proceed with the proposal (8) Not applicable.
