In relation to Independent Public Schools, are there policies, guidelines and/or directives from the Minister and/or the Department pertaining to the hiring of new staff by Principals of Independent Schools; and
(a) if not, why not;
(b) if so, can the Minister please table them; and
(c) if so, do they include compulsory cultural sensitivity training or awareness; and
(i) if not, why not?

(1) Guidelines on recruitment and selection of staff are available on the Independent Public Schools Section of the Department of Education website. There are no Ministerial directives on this issue.
(a) Not applicable.
(b) Refer to (1).
(c)-(c)(i) All public school staff are encouraged to access Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness training through Aboriginal and Islander Education Officers (AIEOs).  All AIEOs' job description forms include delivery of cultural awareness training.
