b) No. Main Roads has not yet called for tenders. c) Machines of this type have not previously been installed in Western Australia. d) The proposed equipment is not different to that used elsewhere. e) This type of equipment is used extensively in Europe ? with some 3 000 installations, and in the Eastern States. New South Wales? Road and Traffic Authority (RTA NSW) has advised that it has been pleased with this type of equipment which has been in place for up to 15 years. f) The RTA NSW has advised that it is replacing five low speed WIMs because the equipment is up to 15 years old, required extensive maintenance and has become unreliable. It was otherwise very happy with the performance of the low speed WIMs. The RTA NSW is replacing the older low speed WIMs with similar equipment.
