C-series railcars—Seats
458. Hon Steve Martin to
the parliamentary secretary representing the Minister
for Transport:
I refer to a report in The West Australian on 24 June 2025 about C-series
issues such as demisters being replaced with $26 window cleaners, which states
that the Cook government has committed to changing driver and passenger seats.
(1) How many driver and passenger seats will be
replaced?
(2) Who will cover the cost and what is the
estimated cost?
(3) Where are the new seats imported from?
(4) How many of the current driver and passenger
seats have been purchased to date for both complete and incomplete railcars?
(5) What is the plan for these now useless seats?

I thank the
honourable member for some notice of the question and provide the following
answer on behalf of the Minister for Transport. This answer was produced on
Tuesday 24 June.
(1)–(5) The Public Transport Authority and
the state government will continue to work with drivers on issues raised. The
demister issue referenced also occurred on the B-series and similar mitigations
were put in place for that fleet when it occurred.
