INDUSTRIAL
HEMP PRODUCTION TRIALS
1027. Hon SOPHIA MOERMOND to the Minister for Agriculture and
Food:
I refer to the industrial hemp production trials in the south
west, funded by the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development
and AgriFutures Australia, which aims to develop a thriving industrial hemp
industry through research and industry development.
(1) Given that
this was a three-year project from 2021 to 2023, does the government intend to
continue its partnership with AgriFutures to work with industrial hemp in 2024?
(2) Will the
position currently funded by DPIRD to work with AgriFutures to investigate
industrial hemp continue in 2024?
(3) If the
position will no longer be funded, why not?
