(2) [Tabled Paper No.] provides how many executives of Western Power were provided with credit cards in each of the following years, 2008-09, 2009-10, 2010-11, 2011-12 and the total amount charged to these cards (value are inclusive of GST).
In recognition of the significant efficiency and accountability benefits offered by using credit cards as the method of payment, Western Power has increased the proportion of low value, high frequency transactions such as travel and accommodation paid for with credit cards.
The alternative is to use the purchase order process which can cost up-to $19.00 to process the transaction. Western Power estimates that using credit cards has saved $39k in processing payments over the indicated years.
Western Power's use of credit cards is in line with recommended State Government best practice (refer to
http://www.finance.wa.gov.au/cms/content.aspx?id=1873
).
