Minister for Water:
I refer to the operations of the
Department of Water and Environmental Regulation.
(1) Is there a recruitment freeze in
place for DWER?
(2) Has there been
a recruitment freeze at DWER at any time in the past 12 months; and, if so,
during what period?
(3) If yes to either (1) or (2), who
implemented the freeze?
(4) If yes to either (1) or (2), was
this freeze due to DWER being over budget?
(5) If yes to (4), how far over
budget is the department?

The following information has been provided by the Minister for Water.
(1)–(2) The
Department of Water and Environmental Regulation is limiting external
recruitment until June 2020. Appointments have still been made, based on an
assessment of business need.
(3) All decisions are ultimately
implemented by the director general of DWER.
(4)–(5) DWER does not
anticipate being over its total expenditure limit at 30 June 2020.
