(1) Can the
minister explain the 51.1 per cent increase in crime in Nollamara over the last
12 months, as reported in The West
Australian ?
(2) Will extra
resources be deployed into the area to help local police tackle this increase
in crime?
(3) If yes to
(2), what will those resources be?
(4) If no to (2),
why not?

On behalf of the Minister for
Police, I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question.
(1) The largest
increases observed in the suburb of Nollamara between 2014–15 and 2015–16
were in the categories of domestic assault, dwelling burglaries and
non-domestic assault. A comparison between the total offences in Nollamara in
the last six months of 2015 and the first six months of 2016 identifies a 14.7 per
cent decrease in total selected offences.
(2) Extra
resources are being supplied to the north west metropolitan police district to
address increases in crime in several locations, including Nollamara.
(3) Resources
from the regional operations group, police canine and mounted section
operations, as well as district response units, detectives and proactive teams
are being utilised to assist local police.
(4) Not applicable.
