I refer the Minister to his answer to Question on Notice No. 635, provided on 5 May 2009, and ask:
(a) can the Minister confirm that Maylands train station continues to be serviced by a total of 58 car parking bays: 43 car bays in car park 1 and 15 bays in car park 2;
(b) what were the findings or the outcome of the Public Transport Authority’s investigation into the opportunities which exist to increase the number of car bays at Maylands station;
(c) will extra car bays be provided; and
(i) if so, how many extra car bays will be provided, where will they be provided and how much will they cost to provide;
(d) has consideration been given to building additional car parking in the area north of car park 1 and currently used by commuters; and
(i) if so, how many bays could be provided in this area and what would the extra car bays cost to provide; and
(e) is the current amount of car parking provided at Maylands train station meeting demand by commuters?

(a) Yes.
(b) Preliminary findings have shown there is available land for additional parking at the Perth end of the station, on Whatley Crescent. Detailed planning and design of the car parking arrangements will commence in the 2011 financial year.
(c) Decisions regarding provision of additional car parks will be made following completion of the planning process.
(i) The cost and number of car bays that can be provided cannot be ascertained until more detailed planning and design occurs.
(d) All possible areas for extension of car parking facilities will be considered in the design.

(e) It is acknowledged the car parking facilities at Maylands station is operating close to or at full capacity.
