I thank the member for some notice of this question. (1)-(4) This Government has committed $100 million towards the sealing of the Tom Price to Karratha road. While all capital works funding is subject to 2001-02 budget deliberations, preliminary planning and design work has commenced. It is expected that work on a 22.5 kilometre section between Tom Price and the intersection with the Nanutarra-Munjina road and a 90-kilometre section from Karratha to Curlewis will be the first stages completed. These sections have been identified as delivering the highest benefits in terms of tourist, mining and general traffic. Discussions are under way with the mining company about possible use of the rail access road. Final costs for the remainder of the project have not been determined.
