LIVE EXPORT— FEDERAL GOVERNMENT POLICY
303. Mr R.S. LOVE to the Premier:
I have a supplementary question. Given that the Premier has
accepted that this dismal package of $107 million is inadequate, will he undertake to negotiate a better one, or will he
direct his Treasurer to assist the Western Australian sheep industry as
it goes through this transition?

As the member has often acknowledged, we have a very strong
relationship with the federal government. That is the reason we were successful
in landing the GST deal, which makes sure that Western Australians get their
fair share of the GST.
Mr R.S. Love interjected.
The SPEAKER : Order, please!
Mr R.H. COOK : That is why we have continued to be so
successful in attracting funding for regional roads. That is why we have been
so successful in attracting funding for our key transport projects, such as
Metronet. We continue to work with the
federal government, and in relation to this issue, we will continue to work
with the federal government to make sure that we get a better deal for
farmers.
