I refer to each agency, department and government-trading enterprise within the Premier’s portfolio of responsibilities, and I ask: (a) does the agency, department or government-trading enterprise use media monitoring services other than those provided by the government Media Monitoring Unit; (b) if yes to (a), which company provides the media monitoring service and what was the cost of this service in 2013–2014; (c) if yes to (a), noting that media monitoring services provide exact word and phrase monitoring, as at July 1 2013 what words, names, phrases or abbreviations were being requested for monitoring; (d) if yes to (a), what words, names, phrases or abbreviation have been added to the monitoring list since July 1 2013; and (e) if yes to (a), for each word, name, phrase and abbreviation noted in (c) and (d): (i) on what date was it added to the monitoring list; and (ii) if it is no longer on the monitoring list, on what date was it removed from the monitoring list?

Words, names, phrases and abbreviations used for media monitoring searches regularly change based on topical issues. To provide information about every agency, department and government-trading enterprise media monitoring contract since 1 July 2013 would require an unreasonable diversion of resources and may incur additional costs, and I am not prepared to allocate the resources required to provide this detailed information. If the Hon Member has a specific request regarding media monitoring I would be happy to consider it.
