SWAN VIEW PRIMARY SCHOOL
— IN-TERM SWIMMING PROGRAM
1557. Hon DONNA FARAGHER to the Leader of the House
representing the Minister for Education:
I refer to Swan View Primary School's
participation in the in-term swimming program.
(1) Can the
minister confirm that in the 2022, 2023 and 2024 school years, Swan View
Primary School has had its program reduced from two weeks to one week?
(2) Will the
minister ensure that the school does not have its program reduced for a fourth
consecutive year, to enable students in 2025 to participate in a full two-week
program; and, if not, why not?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the
honourable member for some notice of the question.
(1) Yes.
(2) The
department prioritises the delivery of in-term programs to schools that have
previously had their programs modified and will continue to do so. Despite all
practical efforts, prioritised programs may still require modification if an
insufficient number of instructors are willing to accept appointments at the
specific venues requested by these schools. To ensure the safety of students in
its swimming programs, the department enforces strict instructor-to-student
ratios that cannot be compromised.
