As part of the negotiations with the Commonwealth Government on the launch of the National Disability Insurance Scheme in Western Australia, the State Government agreed to commence negotiations on implementing the transition of Home and Community Care and related services for older people to Commonwealth responsibility and control, commencing from 2016 -17.
The national disability reform agenda and the Commonwealth's aged care reforms have both changed the way State and Commonwealth Governments share roles and responsibilities for delivering disability services and aged care.
Officials have held preliminary discussions about the matter.
