Police—Firearms reform program transition team
651. Hon Phil Twiss to
the minister representing the Minister for Police:
I refer to recent
activities around the transition of firearms licences from under the previous
act to the Firearms Act 2024 .
(1) How many sworn Western
Australia Police Force officers have been redeployed from other roles to the firearms
reform program transition team in the last month?
(2) How many sworn WA police officers are now
currently employed in a role with the firearms reform program transition team?
(3) How many police officers have been transferred
into the firearms reform program transition team from frontline or specialist
service units?
(4) How many personnel in total, including
non-uniformed employees or contractors, are currently employed in a role with
the firearms reform program transition team?
(5) Is it true that approximately 40 police staff
normally based in East Perth supporting country police stations have been moved
to temporary offices to make space for an expanded firearms reform program
transition team?
The President: That question seemed quite long to me
and was seeking quite a lot of data. We will see whether the Minister for the
Environment is able to provide an answer.
