The Minister Replied:
(1) Yes. However, since that announcement, the Government has also provided emergency support for owner/operator transport drivers stranded by the flooding and an interest subsidy loan scheme for eligible affected small businesses, primary producers and station owners.
(2) Some individuals and businesses in areas of the Pilbara affected by Cyclone Steve may be eligible for assistance.
(3) & (4) The Government, through the local recovery committees and Government agencies such as Family and Children's Services, Agriculture Western Australia and the Pilbara Regional Development Commission, has encouraged businesses and individuals who believed they may qualify for some form of assistance to provide details of the assistance sought. This has been and can still be done through local recovery committees, where they were established, the State Recovery Emergency Committee or, in regard to the Interest Subsidy Loan Scheme, direct to the Fire and Emergency Services Authority.
