(a) The Renewable Hydrogen Unit will comprise three full time equivalents (FTE) for four years. The unit will be established in the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development and transferred to the Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation by 1 July 2020.
(b) An amount of $10 million was made available for a Renewable Hydrogen Fund which includes costs for one FTE over the four year life of the Fund. Further staffing and administration costs are to be accounted for within agency operational budgets.
(c) The effectiveness of the Unit will be measured by outcomes against the Vision, Mission and Goals outlined in the Western Australian Renewable Hydrogen Strategy.
(d) The guidelines for access to the Renewable Hydrogen Fund – Grants Program are under development by the relevant Departments and will be publicly available in coming months. A comprehensive fund design, governance, and risk management process is underway to ensure a robust process for the administration of funding and to ensure that the Grants Program can successfully achieve its objectives. The Member may care to note that the Federal, Victorian, Queensland and South Australian governments have invested in hydrogen projects and/or strategies.
