With reference to a newspaper article which appeared in the
Kalgoorlie Miner
titled,
Hospitals CT scanner now up and running
, page 3, dated 13 June 2017, I ask:
(a) can the Minister give an indication as to when the Kalgoorlie Regional Hospital CT scanner will be replaced with a new machine to ensure that residents in the Kalgoorlie-Boulder area and wider goldfields have reliable quality medical services;
(b) can the Minister give a specific cost for the repairs recently undertaken on the CT scanner;
(c) is it correct that in 2008 the CT scanner also broke down, requiring patients to fly to Perth for assessment;
(d) can the Minister advise the estimated cost of a new '64 slice CT Machine' for the Kalgoorlie Regional Hospital; and
(e) what was the total cost of having to fly patients by Royal Flying Doctor Service and/or by commercial airlines to Perth for CT Screenings while the Kalgoorlie Regional Hospital CT scanner was not functioning?

The Department of Health advises:

The replacement CT scanner for Kalgoorlie is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2017.
2.
The recent issue was with the power injector (used for high volume intravenous contrast injections), not the CT scanner itself. The repairs cost $300.00.
3.
Yes. If required, patients would have travelled to Perth for assessment.

$635,000.00.
