I refer to the Subiaco Football Club’s
‘Learn Today… Lead Tomorrow’ and ‘Success through Sport’ programs, funded
through the Criminal Property Confiscation Scheme, and I ask: (a) can the Attorney General confirm that the
Club’s funding for these programs will be exhausted this month and has not been
renewed; (b) if yes to (a), why is the
Club required to alter its programs to be eligible for further funding from the
Criminal Property Confiscation Scheme despite the clear success of the
programs; (c) if no to (a), will the
Attorney General undertake to investigate the matter, liaise with his Cabinet
colleagues, and secure additional funding for the programs; (d) if no to (c), why not; and (e) how are the funds in the Criminal Property
Confiscation Scheme allocated, for example, is there discretion to continue
funding the Subiaco Football Club’s programs from this funding?

(a)-(e) The Criminal Property Confiscation Grants Program is an application-based competitive funding program which provides non-recurrent funding for one-off, time limited projects targeted at the prevention or reduction of drug related criminal activity and the abuse of prohibited drugs, aiding law enforcement, and the provision of support services or other assistance to victims of crime. There is no discretion to provide recurrent funding under the program which has operated along these lines since 2009.
