(b) if so, what action will the Minister take to remedy this situation; and (c) if the Minister is not aware of these delays will the Minister investigate the issue and advise what action will be taken to remedy this situation?
(c) if the Minister is not aware of these delays will the Minister investigate the issue and advise what action will be taken to remedy this situation?
A notice period of seven days is required when requesting a police escort. Whilst the Police Escort Section endeavors to complete these request on the appropriate date, in extremely busy times there can be a longer waiting period. Most companies who utilise the Police Escort Section are aware of the notice period and conduct their business accordingly. However, there are certain companies within the industry that regularly fail to comply with the required seven days notice. These unscheduled requests place unrealistic demands on the Police Escort Section. If all companies complied with the required procedure delays could be alleviated.
