I refer to calls made to local police stations by the public after business hours seeking police assistance and I ask:
(a) are those calls patched through to the 131 444 police assistance number for response, and if so:
(i) are those calls recorded in the same manner as calls made direct to the 131 444 number; and
(ii) can the Minister please explain how and why there is no record within Police Communications of the three calls made by Mr Michael Madden of Padbury on the evening of 28 May 2011 to complain of a noise disturbance?

(a) After-hours or unanswered calls to police stations in the Metropolitan area are not automatically transferred to the Police Assistance Centre. Metropolitan Police Stations have recorded messages to advise after-hours customers to call 000 if the matter is urgent or phone 131444 if not urgent.
(i) All diverted or direct calls into the Police Assistance Centre are recorded.
(ii) All available records have been examined and there is no record of telephone calls from Mr Madden being received at the Police Assistance Centre (direct or diverted) on the evening of 28 May 2011. It is possible, but unlikely, that Mr Madden's Telephone Service Provider has not provided the caller identification data with the call. If Mr Madden allows his Telephone Service Provider to release those details to the Police Communications Centre, then a further search can be carried out.
