I refer to the minister's correspondence dated 12 October 2000 to the federal TAFE secretary of the Australian Education Union regarding negotiations about a new Australian National Training Authority agreement and to the minister's comment that he agrees that the new ANTA agreement should include additional growth funds from the Commonwealth for the vocational education and training sector; and that although he supports the provision of a greater commonwealth funding contribution, he will continue to pursue this entitlement through other means. (1) Is it true that the ANTA chief executive officer’s estimate of student growth is 5.7 per cent, which equates to $17m for Western Australia? (2) If not, could the minister provide the exact figures? (3) Is the minister committed to securing these additional growth funds from the Commonwealth? (4) If not, by what other means does the minister intend to pursue this entitlement? Hon N.F. MOORE
