I refer to a media statement published 5 October 2017 from the former Minister for Housing, the Hon Peter Tinley, titled "Council's scheme amendment approval is next step in Beaconsfield redevelopment", and the commitment to develop the area to include an estimated 700 to 1000 high quality dwellings, and ask, as of 30 November 2025: (a) at what stage is this development at; (b) is the development site serviced by power and water infrastructure such that it is at the build-ready stage: (i) if yes, when will titles be able to be delivered; (c) will the development still provide the intended estimated 700 to 1000 dwellings to market: (i) if yes, by when; (d) of the intended dwellings, how many will be private, social, and affordable tenures; (e) when will the first dwellings be under construction; (f) will the development be staged: (i) if yes, what are the timeframes of this staging; (g) what is the forecast completion date for all dwellings to be delivered; (h) what plans are there to develop associated community and commercial facilities to support the redevelopment; (i) what stage are these facilities at; (j) what is the total cost of the project to date; (k) what is the anticipated total final cost of the project; and (l) how has the project been funded?

The media release referred to a planning framework change allowing further development at the Beaconsfield site. The site has been identified as a long-term urban redevelopment project which required the careful decantation of hundreds of social housing tenants to other premises to realise.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, there was a moratorium on evictions, and the State ceased decanting tenants during this extended period to support vulnerable members of the community.
Stage 1 demolition has completed, during which significant asbestos contamination was discovered across the site, requiring remediation.
The project was also significantly expanded to include the adjacent TAFE site. The TAFE building has been demolished, and civil construction works are nearing completion, lots will be released to the market this year and further announcements will be made in due course.
In parallel, DevelopmentWA is in an exclusive working period with a preferred proponent for the development of a mixed-use Neighbourhood Centre site on the South Street side of Davis Park. Further announcements will be made in due course.
The Member has publicly stated that the site is not serviced by power and water infrastructure – this is incorrect as there remain 59 occupied dwellings on site.
